Pool Room Big Enough?

If you plan on buying a pool table and setting up a pool room in your house or other location, you need to make sure you have enough room to play comfortably. I have played in places where you have to shoot around a pole or use a short stick because the wall is too close. This just cuts way down on the fun and the quality of the game.

Before you haul that table in, take a tape measure and find out the dimensions of the room where you are planning to set up your pool table.

The room size information below gives you the minimum dimensions needed to fit the table and still have plenty of room to stroke your stick and move around comfortably.

Don't forget that a pool table is a very heavy piece of furniture. If you have any doubts at all as to whether your floor is up to the task of supporting that weight, please get an experienced person in to inspect your location and make sure that you won't get any unpleasant surprises.

Not only is this necessary to make sure the table doesn't go through the floor, but if the floor is not stable or bounces when you walk on it, you will never be able to keep your table in level. A pool table that won't stay level is just about useless, because the balls won't roll straight, and this makes playing good pool just about impossible.

If you're thinking of furnishing that new pool room or updating an existing one, see the Pool Room Furniture page here.
